EMPTY BOWLS
Empty Bowls is a community-wide event held across all three counties we serve, with each county hosting its own unique experience.
At Wittenberg University, the Empty Bowls event is presented as an all-you-can-eat buffet, featuring a variety of soups and other food items generously provided by local Clark County restaurants. Beautiful, hand-crafted ceramic bowls are donated by Springfield High School art students, as well as Wittenberg University ceramic students, staff, faculty, and community members.
In Urbana, Empty Bowls takes on a “soup crawl” format. Similar to a bar crawl, attendees begin at a designated “home base” restaurant where they purchase their bowl and enjoy their first soup, then stroll to additional participating locations for more tastings.
Due to the success of the Urbana soup crawl and growing community demand, the Logan County Empty Bowls event will follow this same soup crawl model.
HARVEST BREAKFAST
Harvest Breakfast is held each September during Hunger Action Month and brings together community members, leaders, and partners who are committed to addressing food insecurity. Guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet while learning about local hunger relief efforts through a brief presentation highlighting the impact of our programs. The event also features a keynote speaker, followed by the recognition of outstanding Hunger Heroes who have played a vital role in the fight against hunger over the past year.
DESSERT AUCTION
Second Harvest Food Bank hosts its annual Dessert Auction, an evening filled with decadent treats, lively bidding, and meaningful support for neighbors facing hunger during the holiday season. The event features an array of desserts crafted by local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community-minded individuals, each auctioned off to the highest bidder in a fun and friendly competition. For guests looking for an instant indulgence, a grab-and-go dessert table offers sweet treats for $20 each.
All proceeds from the Dessert Auction directly support Second Harvest Food Bank’s mission to provide nourishing food to individuals and families experiencing hunger in our community.

BECOME A FOOD BANK SPONSOR
Supporting Second Harvest Food Bank by sponsoring one of our three signature fundraising events is a meaningful way to make a direct impact in the fight against hunger. Event sponsorship not only helps provide nourishing food to individuals and families in our community, but also aligns your organization with a trusted nonprofit and a cause that truly matters. Sponsors receive valuable visibility while demonstrating a strong commitment to caring for neighbors in need.
